About salaryhike.in

A free salary hike calculator for people working in India, built because every existing one stops at the number that matters least.

Why this exists

Search for a salary hike calculator and you get widgets bolted onto fintech content pages. They multiply your CTC by a percentage and stop there. But nobody spends CTC. What you actually want to know when an offer arrives is: how much more money will be in my account each month?

That number requires modelling employer EPF, your own EPF, professional tax, and income tax under both regimes — which is what this site does.

Where the tax figures come from

All rates are for FY 2026-27 (Assessment Year 2027-28) and were verified on 2026-08-17 against the Income Tax Department's own published tables at incometax.gov.in. Budget 2026 left the slabs unchanged from the previous year.

The constants live in a single file in the source, labelled with the financial year, so the annual update is a one-file change rather than a hunt through the codebase.

What the calculator assumes

  • CTC = gross salary + employer EPF. Gratuity and other employer-side benefits are excluded, because they vary too much between employers to model honestly.
  • Basic pay defaults to 50% of CTC, the common Indian norm. You can change it.
  • EPF is 12% of basic from both you and your employer, with an option to cap it at the statutory ₹1,800/month.
  • Professional tax is ₹200/month. This is a state levy and varies; ₹200 is the common slab at higher salaries in Karnataka, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Telangana.
  • The old regime is compared conservatively. Unless you enter your own figures, only the standard deduction, professional tax and your EPF are counted — we do not assume HRA or 80C claims you may not actually make.
  • Rates are for a resident individual under 60. The higher exemption limits for senior citizens under the old regime are not modelled.

Privacy

Every calculation runs in your browser. Your salary is never transmitted, logged or stored. There are no accounts, no advertising trackers and no cookie banner, because there are no cookies to consent to. See the privacy policy for the full detail.

Accuracy and limitations

This is an estimation tool, not tax advice. Your actual payslip depends on your employer's specific salary structure, your declared investments, your state, and any perquisites or variable pay. For filing decisions, consult a qualified chartered accountant.
