Your offer says ₹18 LPA. Your bank account disagrees. This shows where every rupee of your CTC goes and what lands in your account each month.

Gross, CTC and in-hand are three different numbers

  • CTC is what you cost your employer for the year. It includes the employer's PF contribution, and often gratuity accrual and variable pay you may not receive in full.
  • Gross salary is CTC minus the employer-side items, the figure your payslip starts from.
  • In-hand is gross minus your PF, professional tax and income tax. It is the only one of the three you can spend.

Frequently asked questions

What is in-hand salary?

In-hand salary is what credits to your bank account each month, after every deduction. It sits below gross salary (which is before deductions) and well below CTC (which includes money your employer spends on you but never pays you, like its own provident fund contribution).

How do I calculate in-hand salary from CTC?

Remove the employer's PF contribution from CTC to get gross salary, then subtract your own PF, professional tax and income tax. On a ₹18,00,000 CTC that means gross of ₹ 16,92,000, and an in-hand of about ₹ 1,21,105 a month.

Why is my in-hand salary so much lower than my CTC?

Because CTC is a cost figure, not a pay figure. On ₹18 LPA roughly 19.3% of the headline number never reaches you: ₹ 1,08,000 is your employer's PF, ₹ 1,08,000 is your own PF, and ₹ 1,28,336 is income tax.

Does the calculator include income tax?

Yes. Full slab tax, Section 87A rebate, marginal relief, surcharge and 4% cess, computed under both the new and old regimes. It then uses whichever regime leaves you better off.

Is my salary data sent anywhere?

No. Every calculation runs in your browser. Nothing you type is transmitted, logged or stored.
